Federal Government
WWE has served as an engineering expert for the U.S. Department of Justice, Internal Revenue Service, Resolution Trust Corporation, National Park Service and Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation on issues related to water supply, water rights, hydrology and water quality. We regularly interact with staff from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on wide-ranging wet weather regulatory issues. For example, the EPA and Federal Highway Administration are key sponsors of the International Stormwater BMP Database (www.bmpdatabase.org), which WWE co-developed. The Stormwater BMP Database is the world’s largest database for stormwater BMP performance. Our staff has frequently participated in expert panels assembled by EPA.
Another major federal client is the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). WWE has worked on dozens of assignments involving surface water and groundwater hydrology, hydraulics and pollutant transport at the Rocky Flats Site in Colorado and the Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico. We are now working closely with representatives of Boeing (contractor for the Federal Government) and NASA for the design and construction observation of advanced stormwater BMPs at the Santa Susana Field Laboratory site in Ventura County, California.
